Acceptable Service – The SAR accepts service rendered, with some exceptions, for the period between 19 April 1775 and 26 November 1783.
Eligibility - Any male who is a lineal descendant of an ancestor who supported the war for American Independence is eligible for membership in the Sons of the American Revolution. These ancestors are referred to as Revolutionary War Patriots and include those persons who fought in the military or militia, who provided supplies to the American cause, who served on political bodies supporting the Revolution, or who signed oaths of support and similar acts.
Junior membership is available for those less than eighteen years of age.
